Mike Blaut '88
Head football coach Mike Blaut
Mike is a one of 4 brothers to attend Roger Bacon and is a proud
class of 1988 grad. His wife Missy is also an 88 grad and their two boys
Jake 2016 and Ryan 2020 have carried on the RB legacy.
While attending college at NKU, his coaching career began in 1988
as an assistant freshman coach at RB under Head Coach Ron Henke. He
spent 3 seasons with the Spartans before heading to Northwest HS as the head
freshman football coach under the tutelage of Kevin Huxel (RB c/o 74) and
Rich Craig (RB c/o 67). Upon graduating from NKU with a degree in
Education and history, he returned to RB as a social studies teacher, replacing
the legendary Joe Kniep.
Mike taught several different subjects in 5 years at RB as well as
being the head freshman football coach, varsity assistant in track and
assistant varsity coach in baseball under Tom Roebel. His career
shifted to Oak Hills HS where he began coaching with Steve Sheehan, and
teaching American History. Following the 2005 season, Mike coached
at North College Hill under Bruce Barendse.
In 2006, Mike returned to Roger Bacon as the offensive coordinator
under head coach Kevin Huxel. In 2015 he became the head football coach
and presently has an overall record of 55-42 which is presently 3rd in
school history behind Bron Bacevich and Dan Starkey. With 4 league
titles, Mike has been named MVC Coach of the year 3x, all city coach of the
year, all southwest Ohio coach of the year, Cincinnati Bengals coach of the
year, and the Spartans were Regional Champs in 2020.
