Roger Bacon Swimming competed in MVC Championships on Saturday Afternoon. The Spartan Swimmers contributed in individual races and relays to contribute to top 5 finishes in team scores this year. The boys team battled with CHCA for the top spot. The boys team moved up in team scores from last year to finish in 2nd place. The girls team swam against some of the top teams in the District to finish in 4th place. Every Roger Bacon Swimmer scored team points in one of their individual races making it a total team effort today.

A special congratulations to Senior Reese Reilly who was named MVC Girls Swimmer of the Year for the 2nd straight season!

Top 8 Finishes on the girls side:
200 Medley Relay Team of Paige Ernst, Reese Reilly, Brenna Huber, and Erin Pare finished in 3rd place
50 Freestyle- Sophomore Brenna Huber finished in 2nd place
100 Butterfly- Senior Reese Reilly was the MVC Champion, Junior Hellen Russell finished in 2nd place, and Sophomore Brenna Huber finished in 7th Place
500 Freestyle- Sophomore Paige Ernst finished in 4th place
200 Freestyle Relay Team- of Brenna Huber, Annie Boyle, Kate Provins, and Erin Pare finished in 6th place
100 Backstroke- Sophomore Paige Ernst finished in 3rd place
100 Breaststroke- Senior Reese Reilly was the MVC Champion and Sophomore Claire Miller finished in 7th Place
400 Freestyle Relay Team- of Brenna Huber, Paige Ernst, Helen Russell, and Reese Reilly finished in 3rd place
in addition to the relay team of Kate Provins, Sofia Hidalgo, Tatum Zimmer, and Claire Miller finished in 8th Place

200 IM- Junior Matt Schomaker was the MVC Champion, Freshman Josh Roach finished in 4th place, and Sophomore Wesley Garrison finished in 6th place
50 Freestyle- Senior Teddy Borgert finished in 5th place
100 Butterfly- Senior Noble Honkomp finished in 3rd place, and Junior Matt Schomaker finished in 4th place
500 Freestyle- Senior Noble Honkomp finished in 2nd place, Freshman Josh Roach finished in 4th place, and Sophomore Ben Gamel finished in 7th place
100 Breaststroke- Sophomore Fritz Russell was the MVC Champion
400 Freestyle Relay Team- of Matt Schomaker, Teddy Borgert, Noble Honkomp, and Fritz Russell finished in 2nd place

The Road to State starts this week. Spartan Swimming is moving onto the Sectional Competition this week. The Boys Team will compete in Sectional Championships on Friday 2/13 at Princeton High School. Meet Start time is 6:30pm. The Girls Team will compete in Sectional Championships on Saturday 2/14 at Princeton High School. Meet Start Time is 11:00am.
