ST. BERNARD - Roger Bacon Girls Flag Football earned their first two wins in program history on Saturday with wins over Purcell Marian and Summit Country Day.
The day started strong with a 32–0 win over Purcell Marian. The Spartan defense came up big, recording four interceptions - one by Denise Reilly, a pick-six by Ari Erwin, and two by Leah Schoster, including another pick-six.
Offensively, the Spartans scored three touchdowns through the air. Leah Schoster connected twice with Emily Tate in the end zone and once with Maddie Sunderman on a dramatic 37-yard catch-and-run.
In the second game, the Spartans faced Summit Country Day. It was a tight contest at halftime, with the Spartans holding a 13-6 lead. In the second half, they pulled away thanks to two long rushing touchdowns from Emily Tate and Denise Reilly, sealing a 25-14 victory.
Defensively, Mia Sebens led the way with 11 flag pulls, while Denise Reilly added a 21-yard pick-six and Leah Schoster recorded two interceptions. On offense, Emily Tate had a standout performance, rushing four times for 103 yards and three touchdowns.
