BATAVIA, Ohio - Roger Bacon Softball began their 2026 season over the weekend at the Anchor Fitness Opening Day Classic at Batavia High School. The Spartans faced Batavia in game one, and Seton game two.

Game 1 final - Bulldogs 10, Spartans 0

The Spartans battled through adversity in game one and settled things down after a rough first inning. Freshman Kylie Land stepped up on short notice to pitch in game one and earned three strikeouts. Lani Newman finished the game 1-2.

Game 2 final - Saints 3, Spartans 1

The Spartans took a quick 1-0 lead after the first inning on an Erin Pare RBI triple, and would keep the Saints off the board until the bottom of the third. Kendra Gee pitched great in the circle, striking out 4 batters while throwing a complete game. Kylie Land, Grace Weidner, Abby Weigand, and Ella Schlegel all added hits in the game. Pare finished the game 2-3.

RB had a couple chances to tie the game and take the lead, but the Saints played great defense to keep the game 3-1.
