NORWOOD, Ohio – Roger Bacon Track and Field competed at the Norwood Invite at Shea Stadium on Wednesday. The Roger Bacon boys team placed second overall with 92 points.
The boys 4x800 relay set a new PR with a time of 9:11.65, earning a first-place finish. Team members were Eric Smith, Gavin Wolfe, Evan Majors, and Rhys Jacobs.
Second-place finishers included Josh Hamilton in the 200, Xander Robertson in the 300 hurdles, and the 4x400 relay team of Eric, Evan, Rhys, and Vinny Giglio. Joe Coleman also placed second in the shot put with a new PR of 40'9". In discus, Layne Walsh recorded a PR throw of 109'11", also finishing second.
The boys 4x200 and 4x100 relays both placed third. Team members included Josh, Xander, Rhys, Eric, and Jerome Smith. Jayden Godbey added a third-place finish in discus with a throw of 98'4".
Other notable performances included Evan Majors setting a PR in the long jump with a mark of 18'8½", finishing fifth, and Mitch Sehlhorst, who also PR’d in the shot put with a throw of 37'11", earning a fifth-place finish.
On the girls side, Cheyenne Kendall placed first in both the 800m and 1600m races. The girls 4x100 relay team of Naomi Davis-Rhodes, Madi White, Londyn Gary, and Greta Huber placed third.
Next week, the team will host a dual meet against Seven Hills on 4/23, starting at 4:00 PM. Come out and support!
