INDIAN HILL, Ohio – Roger Bacon Softball picked up a huge team win on Thursday, defeating Indian Hill 8–7.
At the plate, the Spartans were led by Erin Pare, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored. Addi Schwartz added a double and an RBI, while Abby Weigand swiped two bases. Grace Weidner showed great patience at the plate with two walks, and Sophia Sheppard made a key impact as a late-game baserunner. Amanda Childress also contributed with several strong at-bats in her first varsity appearance.
In the circle, freshman Kylie Land delivered a gutsy performance, pitching six innings while allowing four runs and striking out five. Kendra Gee came on in the seventh to shut the door and earn the save. Both Land and Gee also helped themselves offensively with multiple hits.
Defensively, Clare Stager set the tone with a leaping grab in center field in the third inning, and Tatum Zimmer came up big with a running catch at second base in the seventh.
The game’s biggest moment came on the final play: a slow roller to Kendra Gee, who fielded it cleanly and fired home to Ella Schlegel for the tag and the final out, sealing the 8–7 victory.
A great team win for the Spartans.
