CROSS COUNTRY - The Roger Bacon Cross Country team kicked off their 2026 season with the Spartan Mile on Saturday, August 22nd at Ross Park. This annual intra-squad one mile time trial is a chance for the team to face off against each other and tune up for their first invitational races coming up in a few days.
Senior Karis Stoxen finished first for the girls, with a time of 6:00. She was followed by Helen Russell in 2nd and Emily Hull in 3rd. For the boys, senior Bryce Fletcher led the way with a new Spartan Mile record of 4:55. Fritz Russell was second, and Joe Zlatic came in third. Gia Ater de Lemos and Jake Rickenbaugh received awards for most improved.
Next up, the Spartans will look to defend last year's victory in the Clark Two-Mile Challenge on Tuesday, August 25 at Withrow High School!
